Demonstrators protested outside the auction room at the Intercontinental Hotel in Park Lane on Thursday 14 February. Inside morally bankrupt housing associations flogged off desperately needed social rent homes to the highest bidder. Housing association residents from HARA were there to protest. Trade unionists also supported the demonstration and members of SHAC and Homes for All came along as well.
The Chartered Institute of Housing estimates that 47,869 social rent homes were dumped by housing associations from 2010 to 2018.
And there is another auction on Tuesday 19th February.
We need to keep up the pressure on housing associations which have become nothing more than volume house builders (building homes which are out-of-reach for most people) without ethics or values.
The next protest is:
Tuesday 19 February
